Christmas means “birth” is a Christian holiday which is celebrated annually by Christians on December 25 to commemorate the birth of Jesus Christ. Christmas is celebrated in the evening service on December 24, and service in the morning of December 25.
Why December 25?
At the time of the Roman Empire, the 25th of December is the day of celebration of the sun god. The festival is held every year on a festive to celebrate the gods.
It had been many Romans who became Christians. Yet many Christians at that time who celebrate the birthday of the sun god.
The Fathers saw that the culture is not true. Christians certainly should not celebrate the birth of the sun god.
To prevent Christians come to the festival of the sun, the Father of the Church at the time it made its own celebration. December 25 set as the birthday of Jesus Christ.
Fathers of the Church invites Christians not to celebrate the day for the sake of the sun, but by him who created the sun.
Christians who originally came to the celebration of the festival of the sun, are invited to the church to celebrate Christmas is the birth of Jesus.
